General info about .sm Domains
- .sm domain names can only contain letters A-Z (case insensitive), digits 0-9 and hyphens (-);
- Hyphens cannot be the first or last character; you cannot put 2 consecutives hiphens (--);
- .sm domain must have minimum 3 and maximum 64 characters (extension excluded);
- .sm domain must not include spaces;

.sm domains can be registered for minimum 1 year and maximum 10 years and, of course, always be renewed by the owner.

It is not needed to set Nameservers before registering the domain.
Nameservers must be between 2 and 13; it's not necessary for Nameservers to reside in different
subnets. If you don't insert the Nameservers in the Profile, during the Registration Process,
the Ormag ones will be used. You will be able to change them anytime.

Restrictions about .sm domains
.sm domains don't have particular restrictions, they can be registered by both legal and physical persons. As well as the ones stated in the Country and N.A. doumentations, reserved domain names are:
- names made of one or two characters;
- proper name of person (Paolo, Mario, Franca, ecc); physical persons can request, after ID submission, maximum one domain name of the formats 'namesurname.sm' and 'surnamename.sm';
- unities of measure (Km, Mhz and so on);
- protocol names (http, ftp, telnet and so on);
- gTLD names (com, net, org, biz and so on);
- geographical names and San Marino Republic's acronyms, castle names or acronyms, streets' and towns' names;
- trademarks, symbols, flags, logos and everything protected by law and regulations;
- all of San Marino's Institutional names, of San Marino's Public Administration, of Autonomous Country Corporations, Institutions in general and domain names that can stand for them (for example: post.sm);
- names linked to luck games, gambling and implicit or explicit sexual contents, names that are reserved or forbidden by the Authority of San Marino.

A form has to be filled. You will receive it immediately after order and purchase confirmation.
Restore .sm domains
IMPORTANT: starting from expiration date, renewals will be charged with a fine. Restore fee will be directly added during the renewal order for expired .sm domain. The domain will be automatically suspended in the same day of expiration and Restore may be requested in the following 10 days.
IMPORTANT: none of our contracts is automatically or tacitly renewed. Two months before the expiration date, you will be contacted by Ormag by e-mail and will be able to decide on the renewal of the expiring services.
