General info about .fr Domains
- .fr domain names can only contain letters A-Z (case insensitive), digits 0-9 and hyphens (-);
- Hyphens cannot be the first or last character; you cannot put 2 consecutives hiphens (--);
- .fr domain must have minimum 3 and maximum 64 characters (extension excluded);
- .fr domain must not include spaces;

Visitors who will type the domain name will be redirected to another web space / URL. URL redirects are of two types:
- Forwarding URLs : Redirects the domain name to another web address; in the address bar the destination address will be shown;
- Alias: Makes the domain name point to a hosting plan already purchased on ormag.com; the address bar will continue to show the domain name
Maximum period of registration for .fr domains
.fr domains can be registered for minimum 1 year and maximum 10 years and, of course, always be renewed by the owner.
Maximum number of .fr domains registered per owner
No limits.
NS check for .fr domains
It is not needed to set Nameservers before registering the domain.
Nameservers must be between 2 and 13; it's not necessary for Nameservers to reside in different
subnets. If you don't insert the Nameservers in the Profile, during the Registration Process,
the Ormag ones will be used. You will be able to change them anytime.
Local Presence for .fr domains
.fr domain registration can be requested only by subjects (legal and natural persons) that resides in the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein.
Restrictions about .fr domains
The .fr domain names can be registered only by natural or juridical persons having residence / seat
in the European Community, otherwise Ormag could offer the Local Presence service, mentioned above.
Since 6 December 2011 the French Authority no longer allows registration of the .com.fr domains
but only transfers
.fr domain transfer
- The domain must be registered / renewed / transferred for at least 60 days;
- The domain must not be blocked by the current Registrar;
- The administrative contact's e-mail address must be active and reachable;
- Request the current Provider the Authorization Code (EPP key) of the domain to be transferred;
- Transfer times: up to 24-48 hours after payment confirmation and during office hours;
- It is advisable to request the transfer of the domain at least 15 days before the expiry date;
Restore .fr domains
IMPORTANT: from the expiration date on, renewals will be charged with a fine, besides its price, which varies with the time passed since expiration date (until 29 days after, it will be cheaper; later, it will be more expensive). The Restore cost will be automatically added during the order procedure. The French Authority will automatically suspend the domain, some days after expiration date.
IMPORTANT: none of our contracts is automatically or tacitly renewed. Two months before the expiration date, you will be contacted by Ormag by e-mail and will be able to decide on the renewal of the expiring services.
